Marina Beach and the Central Java Recreational and Developmental Center (PRPP)
As our trip begun, we start from the seashore area of Semarang at the Marina Beach.The beach has many hotels, resorts, swimming pool area, fishing area and of course, it’s beautiful beach. The beach is located at the north part of the prestigious Puri Anjasmaro Mansions and the Central Java Recreational and Developmental Promotion Center. It only takes 5 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the down town of Semarang. The Central Java Recreational and Developmental Promotion Center or PRPP (Pusat Rekreasi and Promosi Jawa Tengah) was moved to this area, before it was holdin the Raden Saleh Cultural Park or TBRS (Taman Budaya Raden Saleh) that is located in the Sriwijaya Road . PRPP is the place where many big international and national events and attraction are hold in the venue.
The Ronggowarsito Museum
Our trip heads to the south part of Semarang, to the Ronggowarsito Museum as the biggest museum in Central Java. The museum is located in the Kalibanteng area. The uniqueness of this museum is in it’s arrangement of the showrooms buildings. The museum is divided into three major buildings. Each showroom will bring us from the prehistoric era until the Indonesia revolutionary wars and the post independence era. Some of historical things displayed in this museum are, pre historic elephant tusks, revolutionary dioramas, many kinds of old money, cultural and arts things, up to the General Sudirman’s (one of the greatest Indonesian heroes) bed and “tandu”. The Sam Po Kong Museum Semarang
This site is well known of its cultural heritages from many nations, including the Chienese culture. Our journey, now, heads to the west, still in the same pathway. The Chinese atmosphere is very strong when we enter this site. The huge square and the typical red Chinese architecture will amaze every visitor of this site. One of the building is located the Ki Dampo Awang cemetery (one of the Admiral Ceng Ho’s men). There is also a cave and a huge “jangkar” from Ceng Ho’s great ships and fleets. At the back side of the main building we can see the historical diorama of Admiral Ceng Ho’s storyline in three different languages, English, Indonesian and
Chinese. It felt that we were in China.
The Central Java Great Mosque
Now, we go to the eastern part of Semarang, to the biggest mosque in Central Java. The mosque has four towers in its four sides and a very huge dome in the center. The mosque also has a huge tower as the main tower, where at the top of the tower we can
see 360-degree scenery of Semarang. The top level of the tower (level 28-19) also can rotate 360-degree as the restaurant area. The mosque that is located in Gajah Raya Road has a hostel, one big ballroom, office building and a very huge parking area. The beauty of the architecture is the combination from three different culture, the Arabian, Javanese, and modern architecture.
The Wonderia
The Wonderia is a playing arena just like the Fantasy World (Dunia Fantasi) in Jakarta but not as huge as the Fantasy World. It is located in the Sriwijaya Road , beside the Raden Saleh
Cultural Park (TBRS). You only need to pay around Rp. 40.000 or US$ 3,9 to enjoy all arena of this amusement park. On the weekend, the park also offers the live stage performance from many bands and singer that will enlighten your holiday in this city of Semarang
The Gombel Hill
Semarang has two ares, the upper area and the lower area. Heading to the upper area of Semarang we will find the Gombel Hill which is well known with the Tabanas Park. Now, our trip will back to the lower part of Semarang, to the western part of Semarang border to the city of Kendal, Mangkang. As we can acknowledge from the name, Mangkang zoo displays so many kinds of animal, such as elephants, snake, deer, bears, birds, horse, lions, tiger, crocodiles, many species of apes, and many else. On Sunday and holidays, there is always some attractions from the animals. You can also ride a horse or an elephant just to go around the zoo. Not only entertaining, we can also
