1. Preferences with “like”
Forms:
S + like + NP + better than + NP
S + V-ing + better than + V-ing
Examples:
1. I like comics better than novels.
2. Ferry likes sandwich better than hot dog.
3. I like camping better than hiking.
4. Dio likes watching TV better than studying.
2. Preference with “prefer”
Forms:
S + NP + to + NP
S + V-ing + to + V-ing
Examples:
1. I prefer novels to comics.
2. Dito prefers hot dog to sandwich.
3. I prefer hiking to camping.
4. Fenty prefers studying to watching TV.
3. Preferences with “would rather” (‘d rather)
Forms:
S + would rather + Verb + than + Verb
Would + S + rather + Verb + or + Verb + ?
Examples:
1. I would rather go out than stay here.
2. He’d rather have coffee than tea.
3. Would you rather go out or stay here?
